Samosa Joes is a cozy, family-run spot in Vernon that nails a specific niche: Indian-inspired snacks and casual eats, especially samosas that locals find hard to come by in the Okanagan. Located right on 27th Street, this place leans into authentic flavors with a modern twist, making it a go-to for those craving a quick, flavorful bite rather than a full-service dining experience.

The atmosphere here feels warm and informal, reflecting the friendly nature of the owner, Joe, who seems genuinely invested in making customers, including families with kids, feel comfortable. It’s the kind of spot where you can grab a few samosas for a snack or pick up something a little larger like their poutines, which put an Indian spin on a local comfort food favorite — think Butter Chicken Poutine or a vegetarian Go-To like Chole (chickpea) Poutine. The menu is uncomplicated but focused, suited to people looking for approachable dishes with bold spices.

Locals and visitors alike tend to stop by to satisfy specific cravings, especially for samosas with thin, crispy pastry and rich fillings. The place works well for a casual lunch or an afternoon pick-me-up, with many customers appreciating the opportunity to try different sauces and even enjoy little touches like ice cream for the kids. It’s not a spot for lingering with a large group, but more for quick, flavourful takeout or a light meal.

Whether you’re a fan of Indian snacks or just want something different from the usual sandwich or burger, Samosa Joes offers a reliable stop in Vernon. Ideal times to visit are midday or early evening, when you can count on fresh batches of samosas and other street-food style dishes. The vibe suits those who want quality comfort food with authentic Indian spices, paired with genuine local hospitality that makes it feel like a community fixture rather than just another takeout joint.

We went here for the first time tonight and it was great. It’s been hard finding good Indian samosas in the Okanagan but this is the place. The owner Joe is just amazing. Our kids were a bit overstimulated and he was caring and more than understanding. I highly recommend this place to everyone and I will be back again

Small family shop, with the GREATEST SAMOSAS i have tried. Stopped by to pick one up for a snack and see how they are. Quickly hurried back to pick up bunch for dinner. Thin pastry like crust and loaded with flavorful ingredients. If you want to try the best SAMOSAS ever, this is your stop.

I ordered 8 pieces of veggie pakora, one paneer samosa, one potato samosa, and one butter chicken samosa. It came to $27.74 after tax, delivery, and tip. It is in line with similar restaurants around town. They all were absolutely filled. The pakora isn't quite my favourite in contrast to Haveli's or Namaste's pakora. It's still delicious, though. The samosas are definitely really high quality. A really spicy samosa variant would be awesome. The packaging is cool. They include two dips as well. Overall, I recommend giving this place a try!

My family and I went for the first time today. I had a pregnancy craving for samosas. Joe was very kind and let us try a somasa with different sauces. He even gave our kids free ice cream. He was very welcoming. We will definitely be back!

I love Joe's Pakora, haven't tried anything else because they are so delicious. So is Joe's own sauce. Joe is a very kind and generous man, always look forward to talking with him.

Was craving some homemade food while driving to Vancouver and came across Samosa Joes. Right when I walked in I was greeted with a warm smile by the owner, Joe. I came in just for 5 veggie samosas but left with a whole bag of samosas, his homemade tamarind sauce and an hour of genuine conversation. He offered me many free samples as he was just about to close and his samosas are the healthiest and non fatty ones I've ever tasted. What stuck most to me was his story of how he started his business and from the reviews here it seems like every encounter he has with a customer he makes an effort to connect with each and every one of them. I will definitely visit again and I hope to see many more Samosa Joe locations around Canada!
